At Rhumbar many of the drinks are the classic styles that have long been forgotten about, such as the Rhumbar mojito and the 1944 Mai Tai. Other drinks include the Hemingway daiquiri, a favorite of the late-author Earnest Hemingway, and the Latin Manhattan.
These drinks aren’t your run of the mill variety because they are made with high-end rum like Montecristo 12 year and Appleton Reserve. That doesn’t mean that Rhumbar doesn’t offer Bacardi, the founder of rum as we know it today. You can find Bacardi’s more complex versions, Bacardi 8 and Bacardi Anejo.
Most Americans think about pairing cigars with a nice cognac, but in Latin countries they’ve been pairing them with rum for years. The selection of cigars at Rhumbar will please any budget with the most popular selling cigar going for just a hair more than $10. Even though there is a Cuban feel to this bar you won’t find any actual Cuban cigars here, though some may be of the same style and made by Cuban defectors. Unfortunately Cubans are still illegal here, but you can sample one of the higher-end cigars for about $40.
And while you may be thinking about skipping this bar during the summer months, don’t fret. Misters surround the patio seating and are positioned to make the area feel like it is air conditioned. If it’s still too hot for you, there is an indoor seating area as well.
